Here Comes the Son

Little darling, it's been a long cold lonely winter
Little darling, it feels like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun
Winter has seemed especially long this year. As I am out walking my dog, I have stopped and had conversations with the people cleaning their yards. They are busy picking up sticks from all of the strong winds we have had and cleaning out the garden beds. Each one has said to me, I didn’t get the beds cleaned before the snow started and then it never stopped and never got warm. Many people were out yesterday in shorts and shirts. Enjoying the change in temperature and the change in season. Cleaning up what had been left behind and getting their yards ready for the flowers that will soon be blooming and the grass that will be green and growing.
Little darling, I feel that ice is slowly melting
Little darling, it seems like years since it's been clear
Here comes the sun
I’ve noticed that others have started talking about cleaning the inside of their houses. One person asked on facebook where they could find someone who will do a deep clean. As we enter Spring many of us turn to cleaning up. As we approach Easter, there is still time to do some spiritual cleaning. We still have 18 days until Palm Sunday. There is time to stop and clean. In lent, we are invited to pray, fast and give alms. If you feel like your prayer life is not what you want, it is never too late to start a daily routine. While you take your walk, pray. Wake up a few minutes early and say the Lord’s Prayer allowing it to guide your time with God. Before you go to bed, take time to review your day ask where God was and where God would like you to be different. We are in a middle of a series on prayer in worship. So If you haven’t yet started back to church, after the hard winter, now is the time, you are always welcome. Come be nourished and experience the sun as it shines on your life. If you feel like you forgot to fast, it is never to late to work on what you need to give up. You can begin your fast now, cutting back on sugar, carbs, alcohol, drugs, politics, facebook, negative people, unkindness. Take a fast from those things that pull you away from God. If you haven’t begun giving alms, we are in the middle of our collection for the Hinckley Area Food Pantry and would love your donation.
Little darling, the smiles returning to the faces

It’s alright to begin your spring cleaning and start your Lenten journey today. For the Son is coming, the Son is always coming, and it will be alright.
