Jesus,

You were moved by compassion

a man was before you

begging for mercy

asking you to choose to help

and you were moved by compassion

you saw him

you heard him

you felt with him

and then, you healed him

 

Jesus,

You were moved by compassion

for the ill, the hurting

you were moved by compassion

you saw that he was being left behind

you saw that he was being excluded from community

you saw that what he wanted cleaness

wasn’t just about his illness

it was being included in community

so you cleansed him and invited him to become part of the community.

 

Jesus

You were moved by compassion

for the ill and hurting

for the left out and lost

Move our hearts

That we too may be moved by compassion
